Vince Palazzo
I started life writing really dark plays about murder and mayhem. During one play, “Ice Age”, one of my characters is shot (and killed). When she hit the floor (with a resounding THUD!) the audience exploded; the theatre was filled with thunderous laughter. I remember “thunderous” anyway. I guess that moment started me down an even darker path. Now I do stand-up.
I perform because I enjoy the writing. That’s what excites me. I hold no allusions about my stage presence. I am a fifty-five year old newbie with grey hair (where I have hair) and a middle-age paunch. The closest I will ever come to a six-pack is the back of my refrigerator. Worse, I suspect my jokes will always be funnier in my mind than they are in performance. Frankly, I don’t care. I enjoy it and hope to continue for a long time.
